Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 28, 2026

Overview

Chonk: Photos Cleanup (“the App”) is designed with privacy as a core principle. The App runs entirely on your device and does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. This policy explains our approach in detail.

Data Collection

We do not collect any data. Specifically:

  • No personal information (name, email, phone number)
  • No usage analytics or tracking
  • No device identifiers or fingerprinting
  • No crash reports sent to external servers
  • No advertising identifiers or ad SDKs

Photo Library Access

The App requests access to your Photo Library in order to scan for duplicates, large files, screenshots, and low-quality photos. This access is used solely for on-device analysis and cleanup functionality.

  • Photos are never uploaded to any server or cloud service
  • All photo analysis (duplicate detection, blur detection, quality classification) is performed locally using Apple’s on-device machine learning frameworks
  • Compressed versions of photos and videos are saved directly to your device
  • Deleted photos are moved to an in-app trash before permanent removal — you remain in full control

On-Device Processing

All features of the App — including scanning, duplicate detection, compression, and quality analysis — run entirely on your device. We use Apple’s Core ML and Vision frameworks for machine learning tasks. No data leaves your device at any point.

Third-Party Services

The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no third-party SDKs that collect or transmit user data.

Notifications

The App may request permission to send local push notifications to inform you when background tasks (such as photo compression) are complete. These notifications are generated entirely on your device and do not involve any external push notification services beyond Apple’s standard system.

Data Storage

The App stores scan results and app preferences locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data is not accessible to us or any third party. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.

Children’s Privacy

The App does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected, the App complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
